NightWire

The story

Olivia delivers memories in a city where everyone sells them, and her single rule is to leave the cargo sealed. Sable finds that adorable and dares her to try one dive. Olivia says rules keep her breathing, but the dare lingers.

When she dives, she lands in a stranger's memory, where someone says her full name. She can't work out how he knows it or why she is in his memory.

Episode 2 opens with an order to return what she took and never dive it again. Sable talks of trust, yet the conversation turns to a megacorp, a person wiped from its system a year ago, and a file Olivia found. Sable says it can wait.

The characters

• Olivia Carter: A courier who moves memories for a living and refuses to look inside any of them.
• Sable: Teases Olivia about being careful and dares a single dive into one of the memories.
• Kael: A name from the dive, tied to a memory that seems to know Olivia already.

Why watch it

A good fit for sci-fi fans who want romance and paranoia in a small package: a memory-trading city, a rule that was made to be tested, and a corporation that edits people out of existence. Dialogue is clipped and the mystery arrives early. Episode 1 asks a question you'll want answered.
