Not Under My Roof

The story

The wedding is days away when the bride's mother cancels the groom's party before the entire family: not in her house, and not this week. He is sure she hates him. Then the bride goes upstairs for a nap, asking to be woken later, and the mother-in-law tells him to follow her. A party would invite gossip, she says, so everything stays within the family, because her daughter sleeps lightly.

Soon she introduces Bianca, the bride's godmother, as part of rehearsal dinner prep. The groom reminds them his fiancée is a floor above. Both women invite him to join in, and he freezes, until it becomes clear that what excites him is exactly who she is.

The characters

• The groom: Groom convinced his bride's mother hates him, and wrong about what she wants.
• The mother-in-law: Strict host who cancels the party and then proposes something far more private.
• Bianca: The bride's godmother, introduced as rehearsal-dinner help, with her own idea of what that means.

Why watch it

Fans of the strict-authority twist get a bride napping upstairs, a mother who runs the house, and a godmother who joins the plan. The humor and the risk both come from how quiet everyone has to be. Episode 1 shows why nobody needed a bachelor party anyway.
