Newlywed Not Satisfied

The story

Mr. and Mrs. Hollis arrive at a getaway that seems theirs alone. Within minutes her husband, James, is pulled into an investor call that could swallow hours. His wife, Piper, admits she married James for the money, his work leaves her nothing, and she has decided to take what she wants.

What she wants is the employee on hand. She asks him to help with her sunscreen, since her back is out of reach.

Next comes his mumbled worry about getting fired, her reply that work can wait, and an invitation to step inside for a minute. James, of course, is still on the phone.

The characters

• James Hollis: Piper's husband, a workaholic whose investor calls always run long.
