Sworn to the Queen

The story

A stable hand nobody wanted is sent to the Queensguard. The queen overrules the grumbling: he will guard her bedchamber from tonight, because he is the one who returns her gaze. By law he cannot touch her. The law is silent on her touching him.

Episode 2 locks the door. She hands him her crown, tells him to hold it in both hands, and warns that letting it fall counts as treason. She makes him recite the law, then says its real purpose is shielding him from her.

He says he should not be there. She calls that the best part. Tomorrow the court picks her husband, but tonight she is not his queen.

The characters
