Snowed-In with Stepmom

The story

Theo and his girlfriend arrive at her father's house, with the stepmom's taste in every room. Theo's eyes keep landing on the stepmom. She notices, and so does the girlfriend. Then the trains stop, the snow piles up and everyone is stuck until Tuesday. Over wine, Theo apologizes for staring, and the stepmom brushes it off with an easy smile and a question that goes straight at the point.

The next day a private moment is no longer private. His girlfriend sees something that makes her furious and storms off. The stepmom says the whole house will blow up in about two minutes, and gives Theo a choice: follow her now or regret it all week.

The characters

• Theo: Boyfriend who stayed calm through the storm but falls apart under the stepmom's gaze.
• The stepmom: Hostess with a morning workout habit, unbothered by being watched and very good at asking questions.
• The girlfriend: Daughter showing off her family home who spots the stares and eventually something much worse.
