Got Stuck With My Girlfriend's Stepmom

The story

At Mia's request her boyfriend is taking her stepmom home when snow shuts the road. It won't reopen until morning, the phone lines are down, and the two of them are alone in the house. Ms. Dermot hands him a dry T-shirt and offers tea. Seeing him sit far away, she says there is space under her blanket.

In episode 2 she brings up what Mia said: that he is too timid to start anything. He answers that she is Mia's mom. She replies that he keeps looking anyway. The mention of Mia nearly stops him, but Ms. Dermot says no one needs to find out.

The characters

• Ms. Dermot: Mia's stepmom: calm, teasing and perfectly happy to be the one who goes first
• The boyfriend: Cold, polite and cornered, he answers with polite thanks and a very quiet no
• Mia: The girlfriend out of reach by phone, whose name hangs over every decision of the night

Why watch it

Snowed-in setups work best when the situation does the pushing, and this one has the storm, the dead phone line and the only other person in the house. It plays slowly and teases a lot. Episode 1 covers the first long evening, so start there to see who blinks first.
