She Was Sent to Kill Me

The story

In a lethal game, reaching the gate means freedom, and a hunter who helps a player dies with them. Delilah, a hunter, has her target at gunpoint, but her arm is bleeding and he tells her he's a doctor. He offers a trade: he treats the wound, she gives him a head start. She lets him work, grants five seconds to run, and starts counting just as an order comes in to kill him.

In episode 2 the plan flips. He reaches the gate, then comes back for her after seeing another hunter aim at her. The voice gives Delilah Cain five seconds to shoot him or die beside him. The countdown stops at one.

The characters

• Delilah Cain: A hunter forced to choose between a kill order and the man bandaging her arm.
• The player: Doctor racing for the gate who risks everything to stay and help the hunter.
• The voice: Unseen game master who gives the orders and sets the five-second countdown.
