Boss Paid Me to Watch His Wife

The story

Nate's employer flies to Singapore for a week and wants one thing: someone to watch his wife, Lucy, and see to whatever she needs. The pay is generous, and Lucy notes that her husband used to spend as much on a birthday.

The moment the car leaves, she changes into red. The husband phones nightly at ten, and she scripts Nate's report: say she has been good. Then come upstairs.

New orders arrive: Nate stays the night, in the room beside hers, door open. In episode 2 he checks on her in the bedroom. She knew he would come, and asks whether he is only checking or staying, with her husband still on the line.

The characters

• Nate: The hired watcher, increasingly unsure who is actually giving the orders.
• Lucy: The boss's wife, who changes plans and outfits the moment her husband's car leaves.
• The boss: Away in Singapore, calling in nightly and trusting Nate completely.
