The story

Lodge 69 has been booked twice. Two couples meet in the doorway, each holding a reservation, with no other rooms in the area and traffic stopped behind them. The practical answer is to stay and share: a pair of bedrooms, one hot tub, and a joke about opening the wrong door.

Morning brings the lifts. Brad plans to ski until four, first chair is at nine, and one guest stays behind. Someone claims to be sick, someone else says they are sick of skiing, and a hot tub starts to sound like medicine. A woman tells her visitor she has something better than skiing in mind. Everyone has seven hours, and nobody sounds confused anymore.
