My Stepmom Needs A Plus One

The story

She will not walk into a gala alone, and her husband is stuck at work, so the stepmom turns to her stepson, pulled away from his game. She tells him to put on his father's suit and be her plus one. At the party, guests gush over the couple and ask how long they have been together, and he plays along too well. She informs him she counted every stare.

Afterward she leads him to a hotel room his father booked for her and himself, though the father is not coming. She tells her stepson to keep pretending. He objects that she is his dad's wife. She says that tonight she is not, and that husbands untie dresses.

The characters

• The stepmom: Elegant, in charge and tired of arriving alone, she hands him the plan.
• The stepson: Reluctant plus one in his father's suit, pulled from his game and bad at not staring.

Why watch it

Pick this if you like pretend-couple setups: a gala, a borrowed suit, and a hotel room meant for someone else. The humor is dry, the looks are loud, and the problem is that her husband is also his father. Press play on episode 1 and watch her talk him into the suit.
