Kiss My Enemy

The story

The match is fixed against Brooke, and she hears it from the woman across the ring. The opponent is booked and paid to take her out tonight, and works on her shoulder while delivering the news. Brooke objects, but the booking is done.

Afterward the picture changes. One of them wants to know why the result went the way it did, the other denies handing anyone anything, and the subject of money comes up fast. Then the boss lays out terms: a month until the big shows, a long contract for one of them, and a rematch where one wins and the other is shut out of work everywhere.

The characters

• Brooke: The fighter who learns her career has been sold, and has to decide how to answer.
• The opponent: Booked and paid to take Brooke down, she announces the plan before the bell.
• The boss: The power behind the cards, who gives both fighters a deadline and the stakes.
