Claimed by the Dragon Queen

The story

A single order opens the story: say my name. Veyra takes a human to her chamber for the night, and the Dragon Queen is not gentle about it. She warns that humans break easily and that the last three lovers vanished without a trace.

At daybreak she acts as if none of it happened. In front of the court the human is a nobody again, called a peasant, while the queen snarls that whoever touches her property will see their house burned with the family inside. The human, stung, points out the contrast with last night. Behind closed doors she answers: in public she is queen, in private no titles apply, and the human is hers either way.

The characters

• Veyra: The Dragon Queen: commanding, possessive, cold in public and demanding in private.
• The human: Commoner chosen as the queen's newest lover, unsure if that is an honor or a sentence.
• The court: Onlookers whose presence forces the queen to treat her lover like dirt.
