YES, DIRECTOR

The story

One employee has just been caught looking at the director. Her face is higher, she tells him, then asks whether he would like to stay employed. He would. She says her husband owns the place and fires people before their coffee cools, then offers a way to stay: a favor of the kind nobody puts in writing. Tonight, in her office, he will present and do exactly what she says.

That evening she phones her husband to say a board report will keep her late. Then they start on the Q3 plan. He suggests pushing sales harder and trimming the soft leads, and she says that is the wrong order. He answers each correction the same way: Yes, Director.

The characters
