My Stepsister's Slumber Party

The story

Alma is setting up for an overnight party with her college friends, and her stepbrother Ethan keeps getting too close to the supplies. Her mom asks when the guests are due. Alma catches Ethan looking and calls him a creep; he claims he is only admiring the family.

The doorbell rings, and Alma makes him answer it. The first friend at the door clocks him as the stepbrother and teases Alma for keeping quiet about how cute he is.

Alma tells him he isn't on the list, then adds one word that flips the meaning. Her first rule keeps guys out of the party, with one exception: whoever she picks. The episode closes on an invitation to join.

The characters

• Alma: Hosting the overnight party and making up rules she alone is allowed to bend.
• Ethan: Alma's stepbrother, uninvited at first, caught staring and sent to answer the doorbell.
• Alma's friend: First guest through the door, quick to size up the stepbrother and say so.

Why watch it

This is for viewers who enjoy a house full of guests and a stepsister who keeps rewriting the guest list. The tease is the rule itself, strict on paper and full of exceptions. Episode 1 ends just as the party opens up to him, so it's a quick way to see whether Ethan makes the cut.
