My Fiancée's Best Friend

The story

Selena is marrying Nick, and her best friend arrives as maid of honor with years of doubts about the groom.

The insults start at the door. Selena keeps telling Nick to be nice, then leaves for twenty minutes to deal with the florist. The friend reads him her toast: lavish about Selena, harsh about Nick. He promises to win her over before the wedding.

She gives herself away, though. Selena has mentioned that her friend asks about Nick all the time, which is odd for someone who claims to dislike him. Her challenge comes next: Selena will spend tomorrow at the venue, and she needs someone to handle her zipper.

• The maid of honor: Selena's best friend, loud about her doubts and quiet about her curiosity.
• Selena: The bride, busy with vendors and hoping her two favorite people get along.
