Behind on Rent

The story

Jake has no income, nothing saved, and a notice saying he's out by Friday. Vanessa, his landlady, threatens to send in the agency unless they find another arrangement. Her version of paying means cash stays in his pocket. A week later he's back for more, telling himself it's strictly business.

Then he meets Mia, Vanessa's grown daughter, who says her mother never mentioned the new tenant. She guesses the truth fast and offers silence in exchange for the same treatment.

In episode 2, Jake owes two landladies, and each thinks she's his only arrangement. Mia hates being avoided, his phone keeps buzzing, and with Vanessa right downstairs, Mia announces she wants the main event.

The characters
