What They Don't Know

The story

Theo's dreams have a regular cast: the gothic neighbors he sees every day and cannot discuss with anyone. He is married, though, and his wife turns out to be part of what comes next.

Together they find a way to draw the neighbors out of their routine and into a private S&M club, where nothing is quite what it looked like from across the street. Whatever the invitation promises, one side holds more of the picture than the other.

The title suggests secrets on every side, and the stakes include a marriage, a neighborhood and the line between a dream and a plan.

The characters

• Theo: Dreams about his gothic neighbors, and eventually acts on it with his wife's help.
• Theo's wife: Partner in the plan, who helps lure the neighbors to the club.
• The neighbors: Gothic and mysterious, they are drawn into a private kink club by their hosts.
